We made it!

Bran and I arrived in Moscow safe and sound around 7pm last night. Our welcome couldn't have been more wonderful - a bunch of his friends and their wives were there ready to help us unload. One couple even brought us dinner, and another brought us milk, eggs, and bacon for the next morning! God has so richly blessed us, and having such wonderful friends is a fantastic example of that. A longer post will be here soon, but just a quick update for now.

love you all!

Date at the Junk Yard

...not quite the most romantic thing ever, but I appreciate the ways my hubbie finds to spend time with me. The real kicker is that before heading to the junk yard to pick up a part he needed, we had to hit Home Depot to pick up some tools for him to fix a couch at the office... it was quite an exciting DIY day!

Lunch with the Ladies

Jen, Mom, and I had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen today, and it made me realize that as excited as I am about moving to Idaho, I am so going to miss being able to spend time with my mom and my sister together. Jen is going to be living in my basement in Idaho, so missing her isn't much of an option, but mom is another story. I look forward, however, to how sweet the times we will spend together will be. I cannot wait for our first vacation East, when we will both have so many stories to exchange and things to talk about.

Most girls get this "leaving home" experience when they go to college, but I never did. Since I went to St. John's (in Annapolis) I still pretty much lived at home, and could at least see my family whenever I wanted. This transition will be a difficult one, but I look forward to seeing the ways God uses it to bring us closer to Him.

Two posts in one day already

A deep-dish sit-down in a tub with scalding water is a pure joy.
John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley in Search of America

So I got sick during church today, and not just sore-throat icky feeling sick... throwing up in the bathroom during the sermon sick. Bran and I left early to prevent any communion yakking, and then I reinacted the scene again when we got back to the apartment, in my own bathroom. Not sure what's going on, but hopefully it will go away before the move.

In an attempt to get my mind of the nauseia, I took a bubble bath, and while I did so, I continued reading Steinbeck's Travels with Charley in Search of America. The quote above happened to be in the section I read while soaking... the timing was perfect.

Moving... still

One of the aspects of marriage and newlywed hood that everyone (I assume, based on what I've heard) goes through is the "figuring out what your families do differently" phase. Bran and I are unbelievably compatible when it comes to living habits, cleanliness, etc., but there are still those things which our families do differently that we're figuring out. The most recent difference is whether we are going to use Saran Wrap or Press 'N Seal. As you can tell, this is a matter of utmost importance. Bran's mom has always used Saran Wrap, and my family has recently been enjoying the stick to anything perks of Press 'N Seal. The battle ended yesterday, however, while Bran and I were packing up furniture for the move. As we're wrapping more and more pieces of furniture in Saran Wrap, he leans over and says, "I'd like to see your Press 'N Seal do this!" So there it is. We're now a proud Saran Wrapping family.

Next time, tune in for our discussion of whether or not gravy ought to be made from gibblets......

Moving

"When I was very young and the urge to be someplace else was on me, I was assured by mature people that maturity would cure this itch..." John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley in Search of America.

I suppose we are still young enough to have the "itch"...

The packing has begun, and at this point seems as though it will never end...

"Where's your husband?"

Bran and I had dinner with his family tonight (Aunt Laura leaves tomorrow morning, so it was a sort of going away dinner). At some point, Bran and Ryan (Ryan lives in the Antkowiak's basement) decided to take Ryan's truck for a spin. Shortly after they left, Bran's cousin sat next to me on the couch and asked me where my husband was. That's when it really hit me for the first time - I have a husband.

How amazing is that?
