So now that we're having a girl....

I've been getting super excited about little girl things! I went out last week with Jen and bought baby Emmaline her first outfit from mommy (Grandma, or Mimi, or whatever we're going to call Karen, gave Emmaline a TON of clothes before we even knew we were having an Emmaline, so technically she was the first to give her clothes - thanks Mimi!).

I went to Old Navy and was so overwhelmed by all the cuteness that I had to call Jen and get her to come help me pick out an outfit. This is what we came up with:

Too cute!! I made myself laugh with all the pink, because before we knew what we were having, I was set on the idea that if it was a girl, she would not be a Pink baby. Nursery ideas were all purple or coral or some color that is NOT pink. And now that I know its a girl? I'm all about the PINK! Well, sort of. I still like the idea of doing the nursery something other than pink, but I'm no longer opposed to it.

We've (and by we, I mean I) been doing some brainstorming about nursery, and so far I've come up with a few bedding set ideas from gap:

I really like that this one with the bright pink and brown...And I absolutely LOVE the entire feel of this nursery. I love the girly bedding paired with the light blue walls - it's definitely feminine, but not froofy. Froofy? Yeah froofy.

The end!

How big is baby?

A Banana! We're measuring from head to toe now,
not just head to behind - that's why it's so different from a cantaloupe!

How big is baby?

The size of a Cantaloupe!

How far along: 20 weeks - Halfway there!! Woohoo!!

Maternity Clothes: Starting to fit better. I love my jeans, and my pre-preg shirts are starting to ride up, so I'm loving all those long shirts! It's going to be time to make a trip to the gap soon, though, because I need to get a sweatshirt, some sweaters, and a few long sleeved and short sleeved tee shirts.

Stretch Marks: The ones I had pre-baby are getting a little darker, so I'm lathering on even more body butter.

Sleep: Started napping again last week because I haven't had much energy.

Best Moment this Week: Tackling all the clothes that had piled up while I was sick - I can see the nursery floor again!

Movement: Is wonderful! I love feeling baby bump and kick, and I love that Bran can feel it, too. Whenever he does, his face lights up - it makes me so happy!

Food Cravings: Anything from Cracker Barrel. Too bad the closest one is in Montana!

Gender: We find out Tuesday!

Labor Signs: Thankfully, no.

Belly Button: Getting shallower.

What I Miss: Living close to my favorite restaurants!

What I'm Looking Forward to this Week: Big Ultrasound Tuesday!

Weekly Wisdom: I suppose my wisdom is that everyone have a husband like mine. He told me this week that he's pretty sure I'm going to spend the rest of my pregnancy with stuff on my belly (I've already started dropping food on it while I'm eating!) but he says not to worry, because he thinks it's cute. :)

Halfway already? Seriously?

It wasn't until recently that my pregnancy really became "real" to me. I'm pretty sure most of that is due to the fact that until a few weeks ago, all pregnancy meant was that I had some cravings (chocolate milk, orange juice, mashed potatoes - nothing weird), and that my waistline was slowly disappearing.

There was the whole morning sickness thing in the middle there, but even that wasn't so bad.

About a week and a half ago, though, I was laying in bed at night and all of a sudden felt something bump against me, as if to say "Hey, momma!" It was the weirdest thing ever! As soon as I felt it, I grabbed Bran's hand and put it on my stomach. He knew something was up because before that point, my bladder region was totally off limits due to my barely controllable constant urge to pee. After a few seconds his eyes lit up - he could feel it too!

I've been reading in my baby books about when baby generally starts to use your belly as a punching bag, and lots of them say that mommy can feel it around 18 or so weeks, but that it usually can't be felt from the outside until 20 or so. I've decided that our child must a) be a boy, and b) be gearing up to be a professional soccer player. If he (or she.. that possibility is still out there, and Bran thinks it's a girl) is kicking this hard already, I can't imagine what it will be like when he's the size of an eggplant. I mean, it only weighs about 9 ounces right now. If something that weighs 9 ounces can kick hard enough for dad to feel it, how hard will something that weighs 2 lbs kick? I'm thinking about adding on the pounds now so I've got a nice layer of fat to act as a buffer between baby and boxing bag. Not really, Mom. I remember what you said about gaining a pound a week in the last few months. Plus, with how hot I've been already, just the thought of another layer of insulation in there makes me sweat.

Thanks to the flu, I haven't actually gained much baby weight. I think this is a good thing, since I keep making the mistake of going grocery shopping on an empty stomach. Yesterday, for instance, Bran sent me to the store to get frozen hamburgers and buns. I came home with burgers, buns, velveeta cheese, canned chili (for cheese dip), milk, pasta roni, and two different kinds of pudding. I thought I was getting vanilla pudding and chocolate/vanilla layered pudding, but it turns out that in my pudding frenzy I actually got "ice cream sandwich" flavored pudding. I didn't even know that existed. It tastes like chocolate and vanilla layered, so it turned out ok.

Since we don't yet know whether baby is a boy or girl, I have been very good about not registering for anything. This is killing me, since most websites with maternity clothes also have baby clothes just a click away. Because I'm so darn excited about baby, I can't help but make mental "wish-lists" of clothes and other things. We find out what it is on Tuesday, unless we have an incredibly shy child who decides to show us just it's butt. Jen says not to worry, because after knowing me most of my life, she can't imagine my baby being shy. That made me laugh really hard.

I just want to know what we're having so I can start calling it "Jack" or "Emmaline" instead of "it".

How big is baby?

Woohoo! A Mango!

How far along: 19 weeks

Stretch Marks: The ones I had pre-baby are getting a little darker, so I'm lathering on even more body butter.

Sleep: Is all I have done in the past 4 days.

Best Moment this Week: Finally getting off the couch Friday morning and doing the dishes. I then proceeded to sleep for the rest of the afternoon. Stupid flu!

Movement: There's definitely something in there, and I think it wants out!! Jen and Bran have both gotten to feel baby's little kicks. I can usually feel it when laying in bed at night. It makes me so happy!

Food Cravings: Ugh anything I can keep down at this point.

Gender: We find out the 22nd!

Labor Signs: Thankfully, no.

Belly Button: Getting a little more stretched.

What I Miss: Not having a cough.

What I'm Looking Forward to this Week: Bran's 21 birthday party tonight!

Weekly Wisdom: Don't eat grilled cheese if you're having problems with your food staying down.
