It's almost that time! I love Thanksgiving Dinner, and we're so excited to be sharing it with my parents and brother this year. They fly in to Seattle on Sunday, and we're driving over to hang out with them there until Tuesday, when we'll all meet back in Moscow to get ready for Thanksgiving. I can't wait!
Last year, it was just myself, Bran, Jen, and Rachel at our Thanksgiving table, but this year there will be 7 of us with the addition of Mom, Dad, and Gregg. Our plan is to buy the same sized turkey as the one my husband bought last year (yes, he bought a 12/14 pound turkey for the four of us!) since after dinner from a certain angle you couldn't tell we had eaten any of it!
Here's the menu so far:
Appetizers:
Brie Cherry pastry cups (Ash)
Sausage Pinwheels (Ash)
Velveeta Dip (Bran)
Main Course:
Turkey (Bran)
Gravy (Dad)
Sides:
Mashed Potatoes (Bran)
Pretzel Stuffing (Ash, requested by Bran)
Green Beans (Rachel)
Sauerkraut (Ash)
*Baby Carrots (Ash)
*Corn Casserole (Ash)
Homemade Rolls (Mom)
Dessert:
Pumpkin Pie (Mom and Jen)
*Not sure if I'm doing to make these yet, but we'll see. My husband's idea of Thanksgiving is that it's only a success if everyone is miserable by 4 o'clock, and I think that will definitely be so with all this food!
I feel a carb coma coming on just from reading the menu!
