{friday finds, pinterest edition}

Friday finds {on saturday} are coming in late today, folks! Brandon ended up not having to work today so we got to spend lots of time just hanging out with the munchkins. After a long month full of side work for him, it was a welcome (and needed!) break!

For today's finds, I'm linking up with jessicaNdesigns and sharing some things I've pinned this week. Because I like things to be organized, here they are divided by board.

for myself

Love the color, pockets, and buttons.

Some pretty ankle booties.

I'm loving all the neutrals.

The pop of pink is delightful.

Have you pinned anything pretty recently? Don't know what I'm talking about? Request an invite in the comments below - you don't know what you're missing out on!

Because I'm a design junkie ('66 is my favorite).
This list of 50 rules for Dads of Daughters is adorable.
Waste a few minutes playing with Lytro's focus and zoom feature.
More photos, this time a new perspective on New York City (43 is awesome).

We're going apple picking this weekend.
I'm excited to finally do something "fall".
What are you up to?

friday finds {on saturday}

Since I've made this cookie recipe about 5 times, it might be time to see if these are any good.

Remember this post about 25 ways to wear a scarf? Well, here's the companion episode.

Slow cooker applesauce sounds so good! And even better? Slow cooker apple cider.

Have you seen this video? Emmaline would love those stairs.

And finally, the 250 Best Movies of All Time {as a subway map}!

Loving this list.

I've always wondered how to do this.

It's all in b flat (you'll want to pause pandora before you try it!).

This tool would have really come in handy for those high school science classes!

These bracelets are so effortlessly cool (and I'll be giving one away on Monday!).

Have a lovely weekend, everyone! Check back in on Monday for more giveaway goodness!

Friday Finds: Christmas Gift Guides

I hope you're enjoying my {lame} gift guide this year. I know I've been terrible about updating it and promise to try and do better! Because I like you all so much, this week's Friday Finds will direct you to my favorite gift guides from around the web. Happy giving!

Design*Sponge has done four so far, $25 and under, $50 and under, $100 and under, and splurge worthy. They always find great things!

Joanna Goddard over at A Cup of Jo just started hers for this year. She has such amazing taste.

6th Street Design School is doing a series of Gift Guide giveaways.

And finally, Design Mom is having huge Holiday Giveaway Weeks. Each giveaway is for everything mentioned in that week's post. It's a huge deal!

Friday Finds

Here's a preview of this year's Christmas photo. Anyone know of a good program that adjusts white balance? We got a little too much sun!

Can you believe it's friday already? I feel like this week has flown by. I'm glad it's the weekend, though! I'm looking forward to spending some time with my Hubby, and then seeing the Frames in concert in DC on Sunday! Woohoo! Alright here are some goodies I've collected from the interwebs this week:

How adorable are these "I love you more than..." prints? If I could draw, I'd do a series of my own for Emmaline!

I didn't do a Foodie Thursday post this week, so here is a recipe for cinnamon bun pancakes. You're welcome.

Desire to Inspire is one of my favorite blogs. This post is all inspiration from designer Nickey Kehoe, and I love it! Pay close attention to the bathroom (complete with a sofa and peacock roman shade), the earth tones, and ruby shades (bright pink, purple, turquoise) as accents.

Friday Finds

I love her freckles {via}

Hello everyone! Can you believe it's Friday already? This week flew by for me, what with our weekend vacation to West Virginia,  Karen's accident, my sister-in-law's 16th birthday, and my husband putting in after-work hours on a kitchen renovation side job he's doing for friends of ours. It was a busy week!

Incredibly tired of the "keep calm and carry on" trend, I'm loving this "You are the cream in my coffee" print. What a sweet alternative.

Have you seen these clothbound penguin classics? I'm getting Peter Pan for my 9 year old sister-in-law for Christmas.

If you need some cooking inspiration, you must check out this article. They include recipes for 6 classic recipes everyone should know how to cook. I'm definitely going to try them out, especially with things like chicken noodle soup and chili on the list!

As a high school graduate of a Liberal Arts centered school and having completed two years at St. John's College (where, had I not gotten married and dropped out, my degree would have been in the Liberal Arts and Humanities), I laughed at this little cartoon.

Loving the pops of color in this very white Danish home, featured on desire to inspire.

These felt flowers are adorable. If I were more crafty I would definitely attempt them.

Have a lovely weekend! I'm hoping to return on Monday with a new header for the blog!

Friday Finds... on Saturday!

Whew we had a busy week! Both my parents and my husband's parents had lots going on, which means we were pulled in many different directions. We had a great time doing everything from a history parade to a ribbon cutting and a block party! Here's hoping next week slows down a bit - I could definitely use some rest.

This week's links are coming to you on Saturday instead of Friday... sorry! I was too busy playing soccer and partying to post. But since I made you wait, I'm going to post a bunch. Enjoy!

These mugs would make great gifts for those of you with cool hipster friends.

I love seeing everyday things re-purposed into art, and these portraits made from cassette tapes are too cool.

If we ever have a baby boy, I'm thinking these paper boat place cards could definitely be made into an adorable mobile.

14 indulgences for the home, including fresh flowers and good storage. I need to start working my way down the list!

Every guy should have this Gentleman's Style Sheet. I was thankful for the ironing tips! And, if you want to see more, check out Part 2 - Dressing Down.

Wine can be intimidating (especially if you, like me, can't taste the difference between a good one and a bad one...). I love this site all about the Wines of France, complete with a guide to what wine to drink with what food.

These photos of famous couples are fantastic. My favorites are the ones of Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart. It's fun seeing actors doing normal everyday things!

And some videos:

Coca-Cola Happiness Machine

Piano Stairs

Have a nice weekend!

Friday Finds

I hope everyone had a good week. I'm still under the weather, but things are definitely looking up, since I have a Darius Rucker concert to attend tomorrow night! My in-laws are always getting the best concert tickets, and because they're awesome they sometimes take us with them :) I am so excited to get out of the house and have some fun at Pier Six in Baltimore.

I'm excited about this week's roundup of links from the web. I think you'll enjoy them:

First is this adorable wedding invitation. My favorite is the "party in the party carriage"!

Then there is this amazing "best movies of all time" subway map. You've gotta check this one out.

Joanna over at Cup of Jo directed me to this wonderful photography endeavor. 10 photographers took 10 photos each on 10/10/10. Genius.

I love this beautiful yellow room.

AND in this special Friday Find, I'm featuring a fellow blogger and good friend. Katelyn Oullette is one of the most stylish women I know. She blogs at Brown Eggs and Spilt Milk, and I can never get enough. Thanks to her,  I am now in love with Garance Dore (The Sartorialist's lady), and Paperless Post. I would be remiss to mention Kate without saying something about her beautiful wedding, so here is my favorite of her breathtaking wedding photos:

Have a {beautiful} weekend!

friday finds

Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a nice week. Mine was full of coughing and sneezing and cuddling my little lady, but we're both doing much better now.  I am so so so excited, because this afternoon my best friend from elementary/middle school is coming for a visit! She lives in Virginia, and we haven't seen each other since I think maybe my wedding 2 years ago?! I can't wait to spend some time catching up with her, and introducing her to Emmaline.

Here are some links to entertain you until Monday...

I had lots of fun messing around with these time lapse photos you control yourself.  The sound clips make it so neat! And while we're on the time lapse theme, this video from the music festival Coachella is fantastic.

Am I the only one that didn't know Apartment Therapy also had a cooking section? I'm super excited. You should check out this article about how tacos are the hottest entertaining trend these days. I love tacos, so this makes me happy :)

These tee shirts from out of print clothing are great! The liberal arts major inside of me loves the literature theme. My favorite is this one, with the cover of Lord of the Flies.

Cake for breakfast? Yes, please.

Friday Finds

Hey there! How was your week? Mine was a long one, since Bran ended up having to work last Saturday and Sunday.  It's hard not getting a break between weeks! We're looking forward to spending the weekend together. Do you have any fun weekend plans?

Here is this week's finds from the web:

These photos of New York City are incredible.  I've been several times and would love to go back, and these photos are making me miss it even more!

I really like the idea of this You Are Loved baby journal.  I feel like you could make something very similar with scrapbook supplies.

Rachel, one of my housemates from when we lived in Idaho (a married couple, their brother and sister respectively, and a complete stranger living together for 2 years under the same roof... and we all lived to talk about it!) sent me the link to this site. She said it seemed like something I would like, and she was so right! I want one of these type maps - what a great idea!

As you know, I've already started gathering ideas for Emmaline's first birthday (like this one).  A mini version of this ruffle cake would be the perfect smash cake, and I think that with my mom's help I could totally make it myself.

And finally, this ring from Satomi Kawakita jewelry is absolutely stunning. I love that it's hexagonal.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Finds

Today was the quintessential blustery fall day. I loved it! {via}

Here is this week's roundup of fun things from the world wide interwebs:

If I were better at embroidery If I were creative at all, I would make something like this to hang on Emma's wall.  I love that it's a cake!

This Cheese & Burger Society website is too cool.  The design is awesome, let alone those delicious looking burgers (with recipes!). Thank you, Wisconsin Cheese!

I think it is the neatest thing when people turn ordinary things into something unexpected.  Case in point, these amazing cities made out of everything from staples to poker chips.

I'm stowing away this Paper boat place cards how-to from Martha.  This would be adorable for a little boy's birthday!

Happy October! Have a lovely weekend.

Friday Finds

How is everyone spending their first weekend of fall? We'll be partying Maryland style with a crab feast... mmm!

Here's a little round up of some links to hold you over until Monday...

It's nice to know there are still decent people out there.

A neat look at all those social networks (in the form of a map, no less).

These "Wookiee the Chew" cartoons are adorable.  Would you put them in your little man's nursery?

Interview with the stars of the movie Scenesters. The movie is about a serial killer who only kills hipsters!

Toilet paper rolls never looked so good.

I'm watching NBC's The Apprentice.  It's all men and women affected by the economy this season - pretty interesting!

And some top lists:

Don't forget about our giveaway!
