Bathroom Inspiration

That is, inspiration for painting/furnishing/decorating the current downstairs bathroom. Not to be confused with inspiration sparked while in the bathroom.

We painted the bathroom with left over blue and yellow paint, but ended up not liking that it looked like we were going for a "day at the beach" theme. We're going to re-paint with a creamy white and green to tone things down.

This photo is from a site called "This Young House" (click the photo to go to the site). I love the long shower curtain and how much light there is in the room.

I would also like to replace the typical shower curtain rod with one that curves for some extra shoulder room for my man.

Another problem we've got is that the bathroom window is in the middle of the wall - divided perfectly in half by the shower curtain. The previous owners had a (very ugly) curtain up and the shade you see here:

We want to frost the window so that we still get natural light, without our neighbors getting to know us too well:

I know that I want to replace the medicine cabinet, but I'm not sure what I want yet. Also, we're thinking about doing sconces where the "vanity" lights are now.

It would also be nice to paint the cabinets under the sink the same creamy white we're thinking for the walls. As far as the floor to ceiling cabinets shown here, I'm thinking about doing open shelving up top and leaving the bottom with doors. Not sure how I want to paint these yet...

That's it for now. I'll keep posting my ideas as they come to me, and then when we get a chance to start the project, I'll post about our progress!

  1. Great ideas, Ashley! If you take the doors off the cabinet you can use baskets on the shelves.
