Packing Up!

You really can't appreciate how much stuff you have until you start putting it all in cardboard boxes to be moved. Bran and I moved to Idaho just a month after getting married in Maryland, so we were able to ask people to order our wedding gifts online and have them shipped to our new house. I'm now kicking myself for not saving all that packing material! We were fortunate enough to get a bunch of different sized moving boxes from a friend of ours (and by a bunch I mean a bunch!). I think I might still swing by the local U-Haul store and see about picking up one of their dish saver kits for our lovely Crate & Barrel dishes. I think not having to worry about them getting broken will be worth the $10.

I love to pack, but mostly I love to purge. I feel so free being able to get rid of things I don't use or want! I recently read an article that I think I found on Simplemom.net about purging, and it backed up all of my beliefs when it comes to purging belongings. I'm bummed that I didn't bookmark it, because now I can find it. But the gist of the article was that you should feel free to get rid of ANYTHING - a gift, something you bought, something handmade, etc. If you don't use it/ it doesn't fit with your style, don't keep it! I'm going to keep looking for the article because it was fabulous.

  1. Not entirely self-serving reminder to think of the Storm Cellar as you're downsizing. =)
