Nursery Furniture

It's been a little while since I posted my last "Nursery Update", so I thought I'd get everyone caught up with what we're thinking these days. If you care to see how many different directions our nursery inspirations have taken, check out nursery updates one, two, three, and four.

In the last update I talked about the "oh duh" color choice moment I had when I came across this nursery that was done using the same bedding that I like, except with yellow on the walls instead of the pink I kept seeing. If you look in the photos of our house to the right, you'll see that our living room and dining room are painted with the same "garbanzo bean" yellow from Behr paint. When we painted the house two summers ago, we bought more paint than we ended up needing, so we've got some yellow left over. Not only will the yellow look adorable, it will also keep the nursery within the "theme" of our house. Plus, it's "girly" enough to make Bran happy, but not frilly so I'm happy with it, too.

We're hoping to start painting on Monday, and then we'll get all the furniture set up. We were given a gorgeous crib by some friends from church that looks just like the one to the left. It was such a blessing that they were giving the crib away, and with it they also gave us a mattress, sheets, a crib skirt and a bumper!

Yesterday Jen and I drove all over Moscow and Pullman looking for a small dresser that we could use as storage for Emma's clothes and as a changing table, but had no luck at all. I told Bran that we just weren't seeing anything that would work, and this morning when I got up he asked if I'd check our email, and when I did, I found an order confirmation for this gorgeous changing table/dresser combo from walmart! When he saw that I couldn't find anything, he decided to surprise me buy buying this one, which is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I'm so excited. It won't get here until the week she's due, so we might have to improvise for a few days if she comes on time, but it will so be worth it. I love that it's white, so it will match the crib, and the little cubbyholes will be perfect for "diaper time" necessities. I love it :)

So there you go! When the painting and all is underway I'll post some pictures.
